40th Anniversary Volunteer Michael Meenan (Thursday 7.30pm)‏

On Thursday night a commemoration will take place in Shantallow to remember the 40th Anniversary of the death of IRA Volunteer Michael Meenan.

Michael died when the bomb he was transporting exploded accidentally on 30th October  1974

Councillor Elisha McCallion  said

These events are very important indeed .We will be gathering to remember with dignity and pride the memory of Michael and stand in solidarity with his family and friends. The commemoration will take place at 7.30pm at the Shantallow Monument and I would encourage as many people as possible to attend.

The commemoration is organised by the Shantallow Monument committee and Derry Republican Graves Association.
