On Tuesday 24th June a commemoration will take place in Shantallow to remember the 40th Anniversary of the deaths of two IRA Volunteers from the area Gerard Craig and David Russell.
Gerard and his friend David Russell died when the bomb they were carrying exploded accidentally outside a supermarket in the Greenhaw Road on the 24th June 1974

“These events are very important indeed .We will be gathering to remember with dignity and pride the memory of Gerard and David and stand in solidarity with their family and friends. The commemoration will take place at 7.30pm at the Shantallow Monument on Tuesday night and I would encourage as many people as possible to attend.
