Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has welcomed proposals to allocate 900k towards the cost of a new community centre on the Ringfort Road, Hazelbank.
Cllr. McGinley said: “At next month’s Governance & Strategic Planning Committee a recommendation will be put forward to ringfence £900k towards a new state of the art community centre to be sited on the Ringfort Road.
This centre will service the Hazelbank / Ballymagroarty communities and will be a much-welcomed addition to an area which required a significant investment in community provision. It will also be accessible to a wider area including Foyle Springs.
The entire funding for the project will hopefully emerge over the coming period but Council’s contribution results from a well thought out financial strategy which Sinn Féin has fully supported since the amalgamation of the legacy councils.
This strategic approach will stand us in good stead as we look to develop and deliver further initiatives for the rate payers and citizens of the entire Council area.”
