Academic excellence can be achieved without selection-Logue‏

Sinn Féin Education spokesperson Councillor Patricia Logue has said that the latest results in GCSE prove that academic excellence can be achieved without selection.

She said,
“The latest figures of exam data recently published show that schools that have moved from selection are improving and achieving equal grades with those who still practice selection.
“Sinn Féin has consistently stated that there is no need to put children through the stress of sitting a selection test when all schools adhere to the same curriculum.
“This is positive proof that academic excellence can be achieved without selection and I am calling on more schools to now abandon selection and move education into the 21st century.”
