Sinn Féin’s Raymond McCartney has said the official opening of the new North West Cancer Centre at Altnagelvin Hospital this morning is a boost for all-Ireland healthcare.
Speaking after attending the opening alongside Health Minister Michelle O’Neill and Elisha McCallion, Mr McCartney said;
“The opening of the North West Cancer Centre at Altnagelvin is a great addition to health provision in the north west and a boost for all-Ireland healthcare as it will provide first-class treatment for patients from Derry, Tyrone and Donegal.
“This is good news for the North West region and all those who have lobbied and campaigned hard to have the new Radiotherapy Unit located at Altnagelvin Hospital.
“This new facility will make a dramatic impact on the lives of cancer sufferers as it will mean that the vast majority of patients will be able to receive radiotherapy treatment within one hour travelling distance of their homes.
“This is further evidence of Michelle O’Neill and Sinn Féin delivering for everyone in our society.”
