Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has said being dragged out of the European Union will have a particularly negative impact on women.
Ms Anderson said;
“I met this morning with a group of women involved in the women’s sector in Derry to discuss the impact of Brexit.
“There are serious concerns among many sectors, including women’s groups about what will happen if the British government succeeds in its plans to drag us out of the EU.
“That would allow the British government to roll back on rights and equality legislation and that would have a particularly negative impact on women.
“The reality is that the majority of people in the North voted to remain in the EU and that democratically expressed view must be recognised and respected.”
