Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has welcomed the launch of the ‘Still Me’ dementia public information campaign.
Ms Anderson said:
“I welcome the launch of the ‘Still Me’ public information campaign. It is estimated there are 19,000 people in the north living with dementia yet only some 13,000 have received a formal diagnosis.
“Behind these figures are mothers, fathers, sons and daughters whose lives have been changed forever through the onset of dementia.
“Last week Michelle O’Neill launched the Dementia Learning and Development Framework and I believe both initiatives will help all of us, especially those who work and care for people living with dementia, to better understand their particular needs.
“The launch of these campaigns will help in the implementation of the Delivering Social Change Dementia Initiative, raise awareness and understanding of dementia and help address the stigma attached to the condition.”
