Anderson welcomes new planning moves on Ebrington ‘transformation’

New planning applications for the Ebrington site are the latest positive indication of the transformation that is taking place there, Sinn Féin MLA Martina Anderson has said.

The Foyle MLA was commenting as the local council prepares to consider the latest applications to create office accommodation in two of the Ebrington buildings.

“These latest applications are further evidence of the hugely positive transformation that is taking place at Ebrington,” Martina Anderson commented.

“Construction work is also expected to be completed on the first Grade A office building by next March and permission has been granted for a second block. These buildings will provide the high-spec office accommodation this city needs as part of the plan to create hundreds of jobs.

“It has also been confirmed that all existing buildings on the site have a lease or a developer identified while construction on the new hotel is scheduled to begin in the summer and the ground-breaking DNA museum is being progressed to open in 2024.

“All of that represents further excellent progress on what is a flagship regeneration project for this city both in terms of creating jobs and opportunities and developing world-class civic space for us all to enjoy.”
