“It will be a very busy weekend for the Derry Republican Graves Association with the annual of additions to the Derry Republican book of remembrance, the Volunteers commemoration and the big draw.
The additions to the book of remembrance will take place on Saturday at 3pm in the Sinn Féin Ráth Mór offices on the New Road. This is a very important initiative to produce an archive of Republican history in the city in the build up to the centenary of the Easter Rising in 2016.
The main Volunteers Commemoration is on Sunday and is held each year to remember all those local people who died as a result of the conflict. It is a very important date in local republican calendar in Derry and Donegal.
The main speaker at Sunday’s commemoration will be Martin McGuinness, assemble at the Creggan shops at 2.30pm before proceeding to the city cemetery. Later in the evening the annual Graves Association prize draw will take place in the Gasyard at 7.00pm.
