Appeal for new road safety measures outside St Pauls Primary school

Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan has urged Transport NI to introduce of a number of new road safety measures outside St Pauls Primary School in the Galliagh area of the city.

The appeal comes following safety concerns raised by parents of children who attend the school after two cars collided outside the school on Thursday.

The Foyle MLA said:

Sinn Fein Foyle MLA Karen Mullan.

“I am making this appeal following another road traffic accident involving two vehicles outside the school on Thursday. Thankfully no one was seriously injured.

“I held a meeting at the school with Transport NI and the Education Authority last month asking for traffic calming measures to be implemented and for new car parking and drop off point arrangements at the school.

“At present the traffic survey is being carried out and the school has submitted an application to Education Authority for the car park.

“I will be asking them to fast track any results of this survey to improve and enhance safety outside the school as a matter of urgency before someone is seriously hurt.”
