National Bike Week should be marked by adopting a campaign urging motorists to keep a safe distance from cyclists, Councillor Kevin Campbell has said.
He commented: “Today marks the beginning of National Bike Week in Ireland.
“At this weekend’s Sinn Féin Ard Fheis a motion will be brought forward calling on public bodies across Ireland to adopt the 1.5m campaign.
“This campaign encourages drivers to keep to a safe distance of 1.5m when overtaking cyclists.
“We need to do all we can to promote road safety for everyone and this will be another step in the right direction.”
