Sinn Féin Waterside Councillor Christopher Jackson has said whilst he is disappointed at the news the Primark store in Lisnagelvin is to close, he has welcomed the news staff affected by the decision would be given the opportunity to work at a store in Derry City centre.
Councillor Jackson said
“Its deeply disappointing the decision by Primark to close its Waterside store.
This has been one of the main stores in the Lisnagelvin shopping centre for many years.
I welcome the news that staff affected by the decision to close will be given the opportunity to work at the store in Newmarket Street.
It’s important that the workers’ rights and entitlements are fully honoured.
