Sinn Féin Councillor Colly Kelly has called for the immediate removal of advertising from phone boxes in Derry City centre in relation to “Northern Ireland Armed Forces Day 2014” “Invasion Ards”.
“We have received several complaints from members of the public and relatives who have lost loved ones at hands of the British Army about this advertising”
It’s insensitive and should to be removed immediately.
Nearly 370 people lost their lives at the hands of the British Army during the conflict. And we all know only too well the history of their actions in this city.
Concluding he said
I would also ask in future that careful thought is given to the location of such adverts and the sensitivities around them.
