Speaking after a car was abandoned at the roundabout at the top of the New Road on Tuesday night Sinn Féin Councillor for the area Kevin Campbell said
“I got a phone call from a local resident to say a car had been abandoned at the roundabout. 
This is a very busy route into Creggan and it was causing traffic disruption into the area.
I spoke with the PSNI and the Council to get the car removed as quickly as possible as there was a fear it could be set on fire, with children off school there is always a fear that these situations could escalate .Thankfully that didn’t happen and the car was removed.
