Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has urged Transport NI (Formerly Roads Service) to carry out a programme of cleaning road signs at key road junctions in the city.
She was speaking after motorists contacted her to say that a number of road signs in the Foyle Road area were invisible due to being covered in green moss and dirt.
Councillor Logue said “A number of motorists contacted me to say several road direction signs in the Foyle Road area were invisible as they were covered in green moss and dirt and could something be done.
“This a very busy route into our city centre so it’s important that people, particularly delivery vans , emergency services and visitors know where they are going.
“People fully understand that a lot of work that is normally carried out by Transport NI has been impacted by COVID, but I hope they can get these signs cleaned before the onset of winter.
