Cllr. McGinley said: “Over the past number of days there have been a number of car crime incidents which have caused great concern to residents in the affected areas.
A car was burned out in Foyle Springs just last night after careering through the Ballymagroarty estate and this followed on from a similar incident where a car was destroyed in close proximity to Holy Family Primary School at the weekend.
There have been other incidents of so-called joy riding in recent times and residents are rightly worried that someone will be seriously harmed by the actions of the reckless individuals involved in these car crimes.
It is vitally important that we identify and hold to account those responsible and I would encourage residents to provide us with any information which will assist us in removing these criminals from our streets.”
