Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the news that despite COVID19 this years City of Derry Jazz Festival will take place online.
Councillor Cooper said “The impact that COVID19 has had on musical festivals and large outdoor concerts across Ireland has been devastating for everyone in the music industry and also on cities, towns large and small who rely on them for income, particularly the hospitality and retail sector.
“I would like to commend the local council for ensuring that the City of Derry Jazz Festival this year will take place online.
“It means people can watch the music acts from their own home and also it can be watched worldwide. In doing so it keeps the festival going and will help showcase it to a whole new audience.
“Its important that the festival returns bigger and better next year.
