Creggan ‘bonfire’ blaze a strain on emergency services resources –Campbell

Commenting  on a fire at Glassagh Road on Saturday night of suspected bonfire material.

“Tackling such fires means deploying fire fighters and their equipment to the scene often for prolonged periods, which means that if there was a call to a house fire it could create bigger problems for the fire service and put a serious strain on resources across the city.

Concluding he said

I would appeal to businesses throughout the city to ensure that all materials on their premises are secured overnight, in particular wooden pallets, packaging, building materials so they cannot be used by young people to  start any fires.
