Delivery needed on North West rail improvements

Martina Anderson has welcomed the feasibility study for half hourly services for the Derry to Belfast line and said that she hopes it will be followed with action.

The Foyle MLA said:

“I have repeatedly raised the need for urgent investment for the Derry to Belfast rail line.

“It’s clear that rail can have a huge role to play with regards to improving connectivity, tackling regional inequalities and creating a sustainable transport network.

“A feasibility study is welcome for a half hour service, as well as halts on the line, and I hope it will be followed with action to deliver improvements on the line.

“I will continue to work with the Department to push for a modern, efficient rail service between Derry and Belfast.”
