Ógra Shinn Féin Doire will hold a demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinian people on Wednesday 9th July at 7pm at the Guildhall. Its comes in the wake of the ongoing onslaught by Israel on the people of Gaza and the young Palestinian boy Mohammed Abu Khdeir was ‘burned to death’ by Israeli extremists, his fifteen-year-old cousin American student, Tariq Abu Khdeir being badly beaten Israeli police.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday night’s rally Chairperson of Ógra Shinn Féin in Derry Michael McCrossan said
“People in Derry are rightly horrified at the scenes on their TV screens each night of death and destruction on the streets of Gaza .
There is the shocking case of the Palestinian boy Mohammed Abu Khdeir who was ‘burned to death’ by Israeli extremists, and his fifteen-year-old cousin American student, Tariq Abu Khdeir being badly beaten by Israeli police.
In 2012 I visited Gaza as part of a Derry delegation and seen up close the conditions people have to live in there and it was shocking .It’s a daily battle for survival. The continual onslaught of the Palestinian people in Gaza is simply unacceptable and has to end now.
“Its important that people in Derry and across the world show their revulsion at what is going on there. All such rallies big and small are very important in getting the message out through the local and international media particularly with many papers having an online presence .I would urge as many people as possible to attend.
