Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan has hosted a Macedonian delegation to Stormont today where she stressed the need for meaningful dialogue in conflict resolution.
The Foyle Assembly member addressed members of the Nansen Dialogue Center Skopje which has worked with young leaders and politicians from Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Croatia.
She commented: “Your vision of a democratic society in which dialogue is the everyday tool for conflict resolution is extremely relevant to us here in the north.
“There is no doubt that we will have much to learn from your experience.
“We too are seeking to deliver a society in which peace, cohesion, integration, equality and tolerance are core values.
“Sinn Féin the party which I represent want to work with others to deliver a new, tolerant, prosperous and inclusive society on this island, a society, which accepts and celebrates diversity and the cultural richness that diversity brings.”
