Don’t delay Irish passport applications –Cllr Colly Kelly

Sinn Féin Councillor Colly Kelly has appealed  to people in Derry getting ready to book summer holidays to ensure that their passports are up to date.COLLY

He warned people local  to act now rather than leave it too late .He said in recent years the party locally  has dealt with  a number of cases on behalf of people whose passports had run out of date close to the departure which subsequently caused distribution to their holiday plans.

Councillor Kelly said

“I would appeal to anyone from Derry planning to go away on holidays over the next few months  to check that their passport is valid .Our constituency office  in previous years has   worked on behalf of a number of people in Derry  who  ran into difficulties  after they discovered that their passports  were out of date.

We will shortly be coming into the busiest time of the year for passport renewals and it can take several weeks to get passport issues resolved .People may have to end up going to Dublin with documentation to ensure that they get their passport in time to travel .And there may be occasions that people will simply lose out on their holiday as there is no time to process the passport application.
