Duffy calls on people of Derry to support Community Against Cuts rally
Sinn Féin Councillor Sandra Duffy has called on people in Derry to mobilise for the Community Against Cuts rally to be held in Writers Square in Belfast on the 11th October at 1pm.
Councillor Sandra Duffy said,
“The Tory Welfare Cuts are having a damaging effect on frontline services right across all departments as well as severely penalising those on benefits and low incomes.
“I would appeal to the trade unions, campaign groups, resident associations, community organisations, disability advocates and individuals who will be affected by these cutbacks to attend the rally.
“It is important that we mobilise a large crowd of people from right across the political and religious divide to oppose these vicious cuts. They will impact upon all sections of the community whether it is in Shantallow or Newbuildings .
“The rally to be held at 1pm in Writers Square Belfast is one part of the campaign to ensure that we protect the most vulnerable in society and support frontline services.”
She also announced the party locally will be taking part in a six county day of action and rally in Belfast next Saturday 11th October against Welfare cuts .
“There will be a major rally in Belfast next Saturday and we are running a number of buses from Derry. We would ask as many people as possible to attend to send a clear message people here are opposed to these Tory cuts. For more information people should call 028 7137 7551/7135 97477131 8683
