Sinn Féin Health spokesperson on Derry City and Strabane District Council Sandra Duffy, has welcomed proposals for the Menopause Policy and Guidance at this week’s Governance and Strategic Planning Committee.
Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Duffy said,
“Derry City and Strabane District Council are the first council to adopt a policy of this nature and I believe this is something we should be proud of.
“Menopause is something that all women will face in their life time, and I believe it is important that we support women who suffer through this whilst at work in any way that we can.
“This policy will help create a positive and inclusive work environment, remove the stigma around menopause and reduce absenteeism due to menopause symptoms.
“I would like to commend the council and the partners who assisted in developing this policy and look forward to its implementation.”
