Duffy to take over as SF Group leader on DCSDC

Sinn Féin Councillor Sandra Duffy  has spoken of her honour at taking over as the party’s Group Leader on Derry City and Strabane District Council .

Cllr. Duffy , has represented the Ballyarnett ward from 2014 since she was elected to the Council topping the poll.

She is taking over the role from long standing Councillor Paul Fleming.

she said :

“I want to thank Paul for his sterling leadership over many years in being party group leader on the Council.

“It is a huge honour for me to take up the mantle from Paul but I am excited about taking the Sinn Féin project in Derry and Strabane forward in the years ahead.

“These are exciting times for the party locally. Our membership has doubled over recent years with now hundreds of activists across the city and even this weekend we will see the launch of a brand new Sinn Féin Cumann in Culmore.

“The role of party group leader in the Council will bring its own challenges as we face to the future particularly with  the impact of Brexit on the North West ,but I am up for it. We are a forward-looking party which is committed to equality and creating a better future for all the citizens of this region.
