The vice chair of the Assembly’s justice committee said;
“Recently several prominent DUP figures have publicly criticised the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Lord Chief Justice and the Police Ombudsman.
“Former health minister Edwin Poots criticised the Lord Chief Justice Declan Morgan.
“In the Assembly this week DUP members repeatedly called on the Director of Public Prosecutions to consider his position and made insinuations about the independence and integrity of the Police Ombudsman’s office.
“This is from a party who in the past went to great lengths to paint itself as the party of law and order. What has changed?
“The DUP needs to come out publicly and state whether they still support the justice system in the North.” ENDS/CRÍOCH
