Fleming encourages rural groups to apply for DAERA Scheme

Sinn Féin Faughan Councillor Paul Fleming is encouraging voluntary and community groups in rural areas to apply for the DAERA Micro Capital Grants Scheme of up to £1,500 which is opening soon.

Paul Fleming said: “I would encourage as many local rural voluntary and community constituted groups as possible to apply for this grant of between £200 and £1,500 which is available for equipment or minor capital works.

“Projects must clearly address an issue of rural poverty and/or social isolation. Projects must focus on one of the following three themes: Modernisation (of premises/assets); Information Communication Technology (ICT); Health and Wellbeing.

“The Rural Micro Capital Grant Scheme can provide up to 85% of the total cost of your project, up to a maximum grant of £1,500. Applicants must provide a minimum of 15% match funding. The total project cost must not exceed £3,000.

“This scheme has been very successful to date with hundreds of rural groups having already benefited from the previous phases of funding.

“The Rural Micro Capital Grant Scheme 2019 will be open for applications from Monday 2nd September until 4pm on Friday 27th September.

“Further advice and information is available from the Rural Support Network in your council area.  Log on to www.daera-ni.gov.uk/publications/rural-support-network-contact-details-0”
