Sinn Féin Councillor for the rural ward Paul Fleming has urged businesses to apply for The Rural Business Development Grant Scheme funded by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) as part of the Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation (TRPSI) Programme.
The Scheme is being administered by local Councils
Councillor Fleming said “This scheme is aimed to support the sustainability, survival and development of micro rural businesses across the North by providing a small capital grant for the business.
“It can provide funding of up to 50% of costs for capital items up to a maximum of £4,999. The minimum grant awarded will be £500. The total cost of the capital project must be a minimum of £1,000 and must not exceed £20,000.
“I would urge any rural business interested in the scheme and wants the full details on what it covers to contact Derry City and Strabane District Council. The application form and guidelines can be found on the Council website via https://www.derrystrabane.com/DAERA-development-grant from Monday 3rd August 2020 when the scheme goes live.
“It’s important that we do all we can to help businesses at the present time which have been affected economically by the fallout from COVID 19.
