A Sinn Féin delegation is to meet with the Post Office today over the future of a number of Post Offices in the city at Park Ave, Bishop Street and the General office on Custom House Street. The delegation will be led by Foyle MP Elisha McCallion.
Councillor Mickey Cooper said “Over the past few weeks we have received a number of concerns from constituents about the future of a number of Post Offices in the city.
Foyle MP Elisha McCallion wrote to Royal Mail outlining concerns about the long term future of these offices and requested an urgent meeting with officials.
That meeting is now taking place on Monday (6th November).
Post offices play a vital and necessary role in local communities in terms of services and amenities and provide much needed employment.
It’s vital that these services are maintained in the long term because everyone knows once a service is lost or downgraded it very hard to get it back again.
