Speaking ahead of a planned demonstration at Bridgend at 11am on Saturday morning The Foyle MP said:

“It is clear the current Brexit negotiations are at a critical stage as the events this week have shown.

“In all of this it is key that the Good Friday Agreement needs to be protected in all of its parts. This is about more than just trade, it is also about citizens rights and the Agreement.

“The fact is that the people of the North voted to remain in the EU and Sinn Féin have made it clear to the key players in the negotiations that the DUP do not represent that view.

“Unless the outstanding issues around Ireland, the border, citizens rights and the Good Friday Agreement are addressed then the Taoiseach should be prepared to use his veto to prevent the negotiations from moving to the next stage.

“There is a way to address all of these issues is for the north to secure special status for the north within the EU.”
