Sinn Féin MP Elisha McCallion will meet senior officials from Heathrow airport to discuss plans for a logistics hub to be based at Ballykelly.
The Foyle MP said:
“Heathrow Airport recently confirmed that the former Shackelton barracks site at Ballykelly is among the sites being considered for a planned new logistics hub to support the expansion of Heathrow.
“I will be meeting with senior officials from Heathrow this week to discuss bringing the hub to Ballykelly.
“Locating the logistics hub in Ballykelly would be a welcome boost to the local economy in Ballykelly and the wider north west.
“I will be making it clear to the Heathrow representatives at the meeting that, if Ballykelly is chosen, then it is important the local construction industry and supply chain is included in order to maximise the benefits to the local community.” Ends/Críoch
