Sinn Féin councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed news that Firmus gas will be extended to hundreds of homes in the Culmore Road area.
“Following negotiations with Firmus I am happy to announce that they have confirmed that gas will be available to all homes along the Culmore Road from Ardnashee right up to the Culmore Road Roundabout at Foyle Bridge.
“As well as streets leading directly off the Culmore Road, gas will also be extended to the Greenhaw Road, Castleview Park and Steelstown road.
“This will provide hundreds of homes with the option of switching to gas energy.
“Work will begin on he gas pipeline next week and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
“I will continue to lobby Firmus to extend the gas pipelines to areas close to the Culmore Road such as Farren Park and Garden City Lower to ensure everyone in the area has access to gas.
“I and other Sinn Féin representatives from across Derry will also be meeting with Firmus to discuss extending the gag pipeline network right across the city.”
