Sinn Féin Councillor Christopher Jackson has paid tribute to the staff, pupils and parents of the Immaculate Conception College , which closes its doors today after 49 years.
“Unfortunately due to unsustainable numbers The Immaculate Conception College will close today after 49 years service to the community.
“I would like to pay tribute to the staff, parents and teachers who made this school an integral part of the Waterside community for so long.
“There are many people in the area who have fond memories of attending this school and it has provided a first class education as a basis for many more to go on and succeed in life.
“It is now important that the site is utilised for the benefit of the entire community in the Waterside and I look forward to working with the relevant agencies to ensure that this happens.”
