Speaking today Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue said
“This is good news.
“The area in and around the Lone Moor Road /Stanley’s Walk and up around the Lecky Road Flyover has been in a very bad state for some time now. We have been campaigning for many years for such a revamp to take place. This streetscape project will compliment other work that has been going in the district over the past few months.
“It’s evident the continued expansion of the city has put a severe strain on all the main arterial routes at peak times of the day particularly along the likes of the Lone Moor Road.I have raised on countless occasions over the years in the local press residents’ concerns about the speed of traffic along this stretch of busy road.
A number of measures have taken place along the road with the installation of traffic islands and a pedestrian crossing at the top of Stanley’s Walk but motorists are still driving far too fast .Its important drivers are reminded of the speed limit on this road.
