Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has welcomed the result of a legal challenge taken by the Committee on the Administration of Justice on the lack of an anti-poverty strategy in the North.
“I welcome today’s judgement in the judicial review taken by the Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ) on the absence of an anti-poverty strategy.
“This judgement is in line with Sinn Féin’s position that a strategy needs to be put in place to tackle poverty and, crucially, that it must tackle objective need.
“The obstacles blocking the adoption of an effective anti-poverty strategy must be removed immediately so this can be put in place.
“The Tory government’s austerity policies and savage cuts are pushing more people into poverty and are designed to attack the most vulnerable in our society. Therefore a robust anti-poverty strategy is needed now more than ever.”
