Sinn Féin MLA Martin McGuinness has said today’s Police Ombudsman’s report which found there was collusion in the 1994 Loughinisland massacre will have far reaching consequences.
Mr McGuinness said;
“My thoughts are with the families and those who lost their loved ones at Loughinisland.
“This report from the Ombudsman is a damning indictment of British state collusion in murder.
“But the fact that there was widespread collusion between the British state, the RUC and the UVF gang who carried out the killings will not come as a surprise to many.
“The fact that huge amounts of arms were being imported from South Africa by state agents for use by loyalists, many of them also state agents, is truly shocking.
“The ramifications of this are immense and today’s report will have far reaching consequences.
“We will continue to stand with the families in their campaign for truth.”
