Major step forward in plans for new play park/ pitch Ballymagroarty-McGinley

Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has welcomed the Letter of Offer received by Derry City Council for the construction of a new play park and pitch and for the refurbishment of the Ballymagroarty Community Centre.

Cllr. McGinley said: “This Letter of Offer will now enable Derry City Council to make the necessary preparations for the work to commence as quickly as possible and I will be working with Council Officers to ensure there are no delays to the completion of the project.

I would take this opportunity to thank the Outer West Partnership Board for its ongoing efforts towards identifying projects such as this within the area and to the S.I.F. Derry City Steering Group for agreeing to prioritise the application.

The Social Investment Fund is an initiative supported by Martin McGuinness in his role as Deputy First Minister to bring much needed resources to areas of greatest need.   The new play park and pitch has been long awaited by the Ballymagroarty community and I look forward to this development being delivered in the very near future.”
