Sinn Féin Foyle MEP Martina Anderson is in Palestine today to attend the annual congress of Fatah.
Speaking from Congress, Ms Anderson said;
“Today is the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, and I would like to extend the solidarity of my party, Sinn Féin, and of the people of Ireland.
“In any national liberation struggle, division and disunity slices and dices the struggle, damages and weakens it and the people suffer the most.
“We in Sinn Féin know how vitally important unity and internal cohesion is – without them we Republicans in Ireland would never have had our peace process.
“When Palestinians speak with one voice you advance international solidarity with your struggle and your message is heard clearly around the world.
“A cohesive struggle would present a greater challenge to the Israeli occupation and it would be more difficult for opponents of the Palestinians to foster divisions.
“Sinn Féin will continue to work to build international solidarity and continue to support the Palestinian people.”
