Sinn Féin’s Elisha McCallion has said there should be no reason why the medical school at Magee cannot be given approval.
The Foyle candidate said:
“It is disappointing to hear that there will be further delays in the sign off for the medical school at Magee.
“It is our firm belief that there should be no obstacle whatsoever to the medical school being signed off on now if there is a will to do so.
“We have been exploring other methods and vehicles to take this project forward and encouraging all players in this, the department of health, the university and the British government to do the same.
“I will be raising this issue directly with the British government’s Secretary of State for the north to reiterate our position that this much-needed project can and must be given the green light.” Ends/Críoch
