Sinn Féin MP Elisha McCallion has said today’s meeting of the Good Friday Agreement Implementation Committee is an important opportunity for political and civic leaders in the north west to engage at a crucial time in the Brexit process.
The Foyle MP said:
“Brexit will impact on the entire island of Ireland and as a body bringing together MPs and members of the Oireachtas, the GFA Committee is an ideal vehicle to raise the needs and concerns of people, particularly in border areas like Derry.
“I very much welcome the fact that the committee will be in Derry today when we will be meeting political representatives, community groups and business leaders in the city.
“We are in a crucial time in the Brexit process and it is vital that civic voices make their concerns, hopes and aspirations known and today’s meeting is very much part of that process.” CRÍOCH/ENDS
