Sinn Féin MP Elisha McCallion has welcomed the launch of the The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) centre for the test of competence at Magee University for nurses and midwives trained outside the EU and EEA.
Elisha McCallion said:
“The introduction of the new competence test centre at Magee University will help to increase capacity and reduce waiting times for nurses and midwives wanting to sit the test.
“This will also place Derry on the map as a location for nurses and midwives trained outside the EU and EEA to come to the city and sit the two-part test of competence.
“Sinn Féin recognise the invaluable contribution made by nurses and midwives trained outside the EU and EEA and the vital role they play in providing first class health and social care in hospitals throughout this island.
