Sinn Féin MP Elisha McCallion has welcomed news that the A6 road upgrade project can now proceed as planned.
The Foyle MP said:
“Today’s decision from the Court of Appeal that the middle section of the A6 road upgrade can now proceed is welcome.
“The Department for Infrastructure has now confirmed that work on the Toome to Moyola River section of the project can now get underway.
“This is a vital infrastructure project linking the north west to Belfast and further afield and will significantly reduce journey time when completed in 2019.
“Not only will this bring economic benefits to the north west, it will also be welcomed by the thousands of people who travel this route on a daily basis.
“I look forward to the completion of this project and its benefits for Derry and the wider north west.” ENDS/CRÍOCH
