“This week, the US President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and intends to establish a US Embassy there.

“We felt it was important to mobilise the people of Derry on to the streets to highlight our opposition to this decision and to send our ongoing solidarity to the Palestinian people.

“The claim by Israel that Jerusalem is the ‘complete and united’ capital of Israel is in violation of international law and a flagrant breach of the international consensus around a two state solution.
“There is an onus on people and government’s alike to stand up and reject this crass decision.
“The Irish government must send a clear signal and inline with the programme for government, recognise the State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
