Sinn Féin MLA Raymond McCartney has expressed solidarity with the vital role played by postal workers in our society to mark Postal Workers Day today 12thDecember.
Raymond McCartney said:
“Today is Postal Workers Day when we pay tribute to the role postal workers play in our society on a daily basis.
“It is particularly important that we stop and recognise the role of postal workers at this time of year, when their workload increases significantly as they make extra deliveries of Christmas cards and parcels.
“Postal workers are also a lifeline for older people and those who may be lonely and isolated, particularly in rural areas. Often the role of postal workers goes unnoticed but the fact is they play a key role in all of our daily lives.
“I’d like to pay tribute to all of our postal workers for the vital service they provide, not just at Christmas but all year round.”
