Sinn Féin MLA Raymond McCartney has welcomed confirmation from RTÉ that Sunday’s GAA Championship game between Armagh and Roscommon will be available online for viewers in the north.
The Foyle MLA said:
“I welcome the news that viewers in the north can watch Sunday’s Championship game on RTÉ Online, this is an extremely encouraging step forward in ending the inequalities faced by Gaels in the north.
“Sinn Féin have been campaigning for an end to the digital partition of Ireland for many years and recently have intensified our campaign due to the lack of Championship coverage and the geo-blocking of the Sunday Game.
“Last week, we launched the #FairPlayForUlsterGaels poll which was endorsed by 95% of those who voted. This is only the first step in this campaign and already we are seeing positive results for northern Gaels.
“We will continue to push for equal rights for all Northern Gaels in terms of live coverage and the removal of digital partition.”
