Sinn Féin Shantallow representative Neil ‘Brazo’ McLaughlin is calling for the erection of a bus shelter at the junction in Bradley’s pass / racecourse road.
Neil McLaughlin said:
“Over the last few years due to the welcome development of new housing units in the greater Carnhill/Shantallow area we have also seen an increase in the number of bus routes have and of course a corresponding increased number if passengers. But the provision of much needed shelter for bus users in inclement weather has not kept pace with the additional routes and passengers.
“I am therefore requesting that council give its attention to providing additional bus shelters to protect passengers from the elements while awaiting the bus service.
“Having been approached by many residents I know that such provision would be a welcome development for bus users.
“I am also contacting Translink to request that it upgrade the current bus shelter at Drumleck Drive and Shantallow shops which was originally erected as a temporary measure a number of years ago.
“I believe that an upgrade is overdue and would compliment the excellent road works carried out in recent weeks to improve the roads and pavement around that area.
“I am looking forward to a positive response from both Council and Translink on these important issues.”
