Ms McLaughlin, the chair of the Assembly’s health committee said;
“The health committee has agreed to hold a meeting with the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Health and Children to discuss a range of important issues.
“We felt it was important to raise key health issues on an all-Ireland basis and I welcome the fact the committee has now agreed to meet with our counterparts in Dublin.
“Among the issues that will be discussed at the meeting will be children’s heart surgery, the radiotherapy centre at Altnagelvin, deep brain stimulation treatment, air ambulance provision and an addiction strategy.
“Their issues are not confined to any jurisdiction so it is important that they are addressed on an all-Ireland basis.
“The meeting will be held on February 10 and I look forward to working with members of both committees to address these important issues.”
