Speaking after reports that some schools have not yet received their funding the party’s education spokesperson said:
“Almost £650,000 was released to the Department of Education by the Home Office under the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation Scheme after extensive lobbying by myself and party colleagues.
“Reports that some schools haven’t received their funding is concerning and I have sought assurances from the Department of Education and the Education Authority in regards to this financial assistance.
“It is only right that schools should get the funding they were promised to assist children who have endured so much hardship and upheaval.
“I am calling on them to make the funds available so that all eligible schools are able to access it.”
