Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan has contacted the Department for Communities to raise concerns over delays to benefit applications as a result of a postal backlog.
The Foyle MLA said:
“It has come to my attention after speaking to advice workers and constituents that submission of people’s benefit applications have been delayed as a result of the postal backlog in Derry.
“I have contacted the Department for Communities to ensure that this will not impact on claimants and to ensure that flexibility is shown until the postal issue is resolved.
“The Department have confirmed that they will take this into consideration in the coming weeks and if anyone has been affected by these delays, they should get in contact with my office on 02871377551 or email – email@example.com”
