Karen Mullan MLA has welcomed proposals to introduce a domestic violence disclosure scheme along the same lines as Clare’s law.
The Foyle MLA commented: “A disclosure scheme should help keep people safe and better protected from domestic violence.
“The scheme now needs to be implemented effectively and people need to be made aware of the scheme and how to use the service.
“The PSNI need to have substantial training in place to deal with the disclosure scheme and to identify perpetrators here and in other jurisdictions.
“The PSNI also need to work in partnership with relevant statutory agencies to make this scheme fit for purpose.
“It is important now that the full potential to protect people from domestic violence is fully realised.”
